The rehabilitation clinic Rehaklinik Zihlschlacht is a traditional, highly specialised medical center for neurological recovery. Every year, we treat over 1,400 inpatients and over 400 outpatients with brain and neurological conditions, aiming to help them get back on track in their private and professional lives. With the use of classical treatment methods and cutting-edge robotic therapy devices, we achieve excellent results for our patients.

Did you know that a whole range of core therapeutic disciplines is also available to you on an outpatient basis with long-term support and guidance? You'll find it all at the Outpatient Therapy Center (ATZ) at the rehabilitation clinic Rehaklinik Zihlschlacht, where we treat more than 400 patients every year. The medical and therapeutic offers can be taken up individually or in combos.

The individual, goal-oriented movement physiotherapy is aimed at enhancing your functional abilities. As the first step, your movement behaviour and compensation mechanisms are analysed. In the therapy sessions, we work out the necessary procedures to be able to train the targeted activities in a targeted manner. As further steps of therapy, supportive or guided active exercises are added. Our instructions for self-training are designed to enable you to consolidate and maintain your progress in everyday life.

The speech therapy assessment is the basis for comprehensive counselling and targeted therapy in case of neurological speech, language, voice, swallowing and food intake disorders, as well as paralysis or weakening of the facial muscles. Therapeutic goals are based on your individual needs and include active participation of your family with due regard to your life circumstances. Therapy can take place in individual or group settings.

Occupational therapy helps you learn anew the activities that are important to you in your everyday life. For example, these include personal hygiene, meal cooking, and leisure activities. Treatment of cognitive and motor impairments is also included. Together with you, we set your individual therapy objective and (if possible) train in your customary environment to succeed together.

Our multidisciplinary therapy team can also offer you rehabilitation directly at your home, e.g. after your stay in hospital or a rehab. We can arrange home-based sessions of occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy. This way you will get the opportunity to regain the greatest possible independence in your personal living environment and achieve the highest possible quality of life. In addition, our occupational therapy team will be able to conduct assessment of your living space and identify any potential risk factors for falls. In doing so, we will provide you with individual recommendations and advise you on the necessary changes and mobility aids.

Neuropsychology and delegated psychotherapy sessions are beneficial if your cognitive performance, emotional condition or state of mind and behaviour are affected by an underlying neurological disorder. Our range of treatments includes evidence-based assessment, therapy sessions, counselling and supervision during your reintegration at home and at work. Our range of medical services also includes treatment of psychological and psychosomatic concomitant diseases.

Nutrition counselling includes one-on-one sessions to assist you with changing your dietary patterns and thereby improving your health. Changes in nutrition may be targeted at prevention and management of such conditions as:

  • Diabetes
  • Obesity (body mass index over 30) and obesity-related secondary conditions
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Digestive diseases
  • Kidney diseases
  • Malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies
  • Food allergies or allergic reactions to food components

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has complemented the range of services provided at the Rehaklinik Zihlschlacht for many years. Traditional Chinese healing techniques such as acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy (phytotherapy), Tui Na (Chinese massage), cupping and moxibustion are used to treat neurological disorders, chronic conditions such as pain, rheumatism, gastrointestinal disorders, allergies, stress-related disorders, migraine, menstrual disorders, pregnancy complaints or as childbirth preparation treatment.

Day care


Do you or your relatives often stay alone? Or do you provide your relatives with the opportunity to continue living at home while visiting them daily but now feel you need a day for yourself? Operating as day care, our clinic's outpatient therapy center offers a stimulating social environment with diverse activities every Tuesday. The program includes a group lunch in a cozy atmosphere. We are looking forward to seeing you as well.

Day care offer

The day program is prepared and run by two experienced caregivers. Participants take part in various joyful activities, which are geared to the abilities of the group. They include handicrafts, singing, baking, board games and the like. Lunch is served in the clinic's own café. Rest facilities are available at all times.            

Since we have a cantonal permit to run a day care center, local communities contribute to the costs of our services: CHF 60.- for the whole day and CHF 30.- for half a day. They receive their invoices directly from us. Therefore, your invoice amount will be reduced by this value. The day care takes place on Tuesdays at the following times. The following costs are still to be paid by you*.

You can opt for a two-day trial period, which is free of charge and with no further obligation. For organisational reasons, pre-registration by telephone is required.

Thanks to such collaboration, patients from our region can benefit from a comprehensive portfolio of services, which combines elements of KIESER training and elements of VAMED's  therapy. We can offer them all-round care, providing it at a central location in a modern environment.
